Coordinator, Compassionate Empowerment and Development Initiative, CEDI, Ibadan, Pastor Debo Daniel has described drug abuse as a mental illness.
Pastor Daniel made the assertion while featuring on Pensioners FM programme, Mid Morning Extra.
According to Pastor Daniel, drug abuse affects decision making and rational behaviour of its users.
Pastor Daniel, said drug abusers should be rehabilitated through proper treatment and psychotherapy.
He added that according to National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Nigeria has one of the highest statistics of drug abuse in Africa and called on civil societies and religious bodies to join forces with government to tackle the menace.
